As summer approaches in the Philippines, we bet you and other families are gearing up for a family movie night or two (or more!), thanks to the cool respite provided by air conditioning. Nothing beats bonding over a great film… But no movie night is complete without some delicious snacks to munch on while you watch, right? That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best movie night snacks to make for your family.

After you check this list out, you’ll no longer wonder what to eat at a movie night. In fact, your next problem might be choosing one for your movie night menu!

Movie Night Snack Idea 1: Popcorn

popcorn the bailiwick academy movie night snacks to make

If you’re watching your favorite movies, you’ve GOT to have popcorn with you. It’s the classic movie night snack. And you know what’s great about popcorn? You can take it up a notch by adding flavors as soon as you’re done popping some kernels into your pot or popcorn maker.

Here are some flavors you should definitely try:

Parmesan cheese popcorn

To make some delicious cheesy popcorn, melt butter in a separate saucepan and drizzle it over the popcorn. After that, put some grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered popcorn. Make sure to distribute it evenly. Add garlic powder or dried herbs like oregano and basil for some extra flavor!

Salted caramel popcorn

If you’re in the mood for something sweet and salty (or sweet and savoury) for your movie night snack, salted caramel popcorn is a great option. It’s an easy recipe to achieve, too. Just melt some butter and brown sugar in a saucepan until it becomes caramel.

After that, pour the caramel over the popcorn and toss the popcorn until it’s all even. Let it cool, and let the caramel harden before serving.

Chocolate popcorn

If you believe that chocolate goes with everything, you’ll definitely enjoy popcorn with melted chocolate. Feel free to use dark, white, or milk chocolate, then add nuts or sprinkles to the mix for added texture, color, and flavor!

Feel like being creative and treating your family? Why not imitate popcorn bars in theaters and present all three flavors? Talk about elevating movie nights at home!

Movie Night Snack Idea 2: Ice Cream

ice cream the bailiwick academy
Chocolate is just one option. Get the flavors you want!

You know how eating ice cream while watching a movie has been associated with negative feelings? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way all the time! Ice cream can definitely be enjoyed on movie night – eat out of the pint or with a cone.

Feel free to pair it with other snacks, like cookies, brownies, and popcorn. Just make sure to prepare some napkins, as it can get messy when your ice cream starts to melt.

And if you’re looking for some ice cream recipes, you don’t have to look far! You can check out Chef Joey Prats’ Artisan and No Churn Ice Creams class for some of the best ice cream you can make. And if you want some low-carb, guilt-free options, try Ms. Chiqui Dingcong’s Keto Ice Cream class.

Movie Night Snack Idea 3: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Here’s an idea for snacks to make for a movie night: cookies! And to make it even better, make chocolate chip cookies! After all, cookies are great, but cookies with chocolate chips? Heaven!

These classic snacks are a sure crowd-pleaser since almost everyone loves them. They’re also pretty easy to whip up and can be paired with other movie night snacks. That makes them safe, reliable, and definitely one of the good movie snacks to make.

For one of the best chocolate chip cookie recipes, check out Chef Bam Piencaneves’ Gourmet Cookies class!

Movie Night Snack Idea 4: A snack mix!

snack mix the bailiwick academy

Want easy-to-make movie snacks? Well, sometimes, you don’t need to whip up anything in the kitchen. Just buy different varieties like gummy worms, gummy bears, trail mix, rice krispie treats, a chocolate-covered pretzel or two, and pretty much whatever you want to add.

If it’s good enough for Halloween, it’s good enough for movie night!

And if there are plenty of you in the family, this will give each member a choice of snack boards. They can personalize what they want to eat to their hearts’ content.

Movie Night Snack Idea 5: A charcuterie board

movie night snacks to make charcuterie board

You might be seeing charcuterie boards all over the Internet and think that they’re hard to do, but they actually fall under DIY movie night snacks. You don’t need anything super fancy – just a board! After that, buy an assortment of cured meats, cheeses, crackers, fruits, mixed nuts, and other small bites.

And since a board is customizable anyway, (it’s YOUR board, after all!), tailor it to what you and your family like. Add cream cheese, spinach artichoke dip, or again, whatever you feel like fits your meat selection. Enjoy as you watch your favorite movie!

Movie Night Snack Idea 6: Sandwiches

sandwiches the bailiwick academy

Sandwiches are convenient to eat, and depending on what you make, can even serve as movie night dinner. Just like popcorn, sandwiches are very versatile. You have the choice of serving sweet sandwiches or savory ones that can also serve as dinner.

And if you want sweet sandwiches, try pairing breads from Chef Jimbo Panadero’s Commercial Breads class with spreads from the Sweet Spreads Deluxe class by Chef Miko Aspiras. We’re sure you and your family will enjoy the combination!

On the other hand, if you want sandwiches that can also be dinner, the Pocket Bread class by Chef Max Nadin and the Burger Obsession class by Sir Rodney Martinez are two possible options for you to check out.

Movie Night Snack Idea 7: Buffalo wings

movie night snacks to make buffalo chicken wings the bailiwick academy

Buffalo chicken wings are one of the most popular snacks in America. Why, you ask? Well, because these wings are packed with flavor and are easy to eat. You’ll have no problem eating them while keeping an eye on the movie.

They’re a bit time-consuming to prepare compared to the other snacks on this list but the result is worth it. Make sure that you have blue cheese dip to have even better flavors!

Of course, eating buffalo wings can be messy, so keep some napkins and wet wipes on hand. Or you can make like the restaurants and keep some plastic gloves nearby!

These aren’t the only good snacks to make for movie night!

We hope you enjoyed this list of snacks for movie night. Do take note that in no way is this a definitive list for a movie night menu. If for example, you want Indian snacks for movie night (if you do, enroll in Chef Him Uy De Baron’s Flavors of India class) or healthy movie snacks recipes, you can go for it. After all, it is YOUR movie night.

What’s important is that you and your family get to come together and bond over a shared love of a movie or two. The delicious snacks just elevate the experience and make it more memorable and enjoyable.

Enjoy movie nights!

Speaking of chicken wings as a movie snack…

Does the idea of chicken wings as a movie night snack appeal to you and your family? Are you now looking for easy recipes but you’re not sure which one to try?

Well, The Bailiwick Academy has your back with our latest class with Chef Max Nadin: Just Wing It!

In this class, you won’t only be making Buffalo Wings with delicious Blue Cheese dip, but you’ll also be making two more flavors:

  • Garlic Parmesan wings that come with a sweet and slightly tangy Honey-Dijon Dip; and
  • Spicy Asian wings, wings with strong Asian flavors complemented by a Creamy Garlic and Onion Dip!

Yes, that’s right: you’ll get three amazing flavors with yummy dips that are simple to make but packs a flavor punch!

In short, taking this class will practically give you the golden ticket to chicken wing deliciousness!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up at The Bailiwick Academy today and get your hands on these delicious recipes. They’re not only good for movie night dinners or snacks, but for your food business, too!

Hey, there are many restaurants who offer unli-chicken wings. Why not you – especially if you have better tasting wings, right?

Hello readers! So tell us: what Halloween homemade food are you serving next month?

Oh wait… you’ve completely forgotten about Halloween?

Well, we can’t blame you! After all, Christmas IS a happier occasion to think about. Plus, you won’t hear any Halloween songs being played in malls or wherever you go.

But while we Filipinos don’t exactly do apple bobbing or carving faces on pumpkins, a lot of us still do Halloween traditions. For example, in a lot of malls, villages, and condominiums, kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes and go trick-or-treating.

Adults aren’t left out of the fun either, as for instance, local promoter PULP Live World is hosting a Halloween party featuring Korean acts CL and Epik High this coming October (you might be interested if you’re into Korean historical dramas or other Korean stuff!).

So you can be sure that various parties will be held for the occasion, whether in public or at homes. You might find yourself suddenly having to host one as your kids’ or your families’ request – or ever just because you want to.

And when you hold parties, you can be sure that you’re going to need food!

No idea what to serve to satisfy tummies while keeping in the Halloween spirit? Well, we got you! Keep on reading as we give you some delicious ideas you can do all from the comfort of your home!

Why are we talking about Halloween so early?

Halloween homemade food the bailiwick academy witch thinking

Now you might be thinking that Halloween is too far for us to be talking about Halloween-themed homemade food. But the truth is, while Halloween is still more than a month away, it’s not too early to be thinking about it at all!

Why?

Well, for one thing, if you ARE going to have a Halloween party, you don’t want to be planning too late. Otherwise, you might end up with a less-than-ideal menu.

Plus, if you’re running a food business, it would be good to get the word out that you’re ready for Halloween-themed food. That way, you’ll be top of mind when people think of where to get food for their parties!

Wait… what’s Halloween anyway?

Well, according to History.com, the concept of Halloween originated from the ancient Celtics. Every end of October, a cold and dark winter would occur, and for the Celts, they considered that period as the beginning of a new year.

They also believed that the boundary between the living and the dead would blur during this time, meaning that ghosts would roam the earth, damage crops, and generally cause trouble.

So why wear costumes during Halloween?

Since ghosts might also be vengeful spirits, people started to wear costumes to hide their identities and blend among the wandering spirits. That way, in case they had enemies who were ghosts, they could protect themselves. Thus started the tradition of costume wearing.

People in costumes eventually started to present themselves as representatives of those vengeful spirits. That’s why the phrase “trick or treat” came to be. Basically, if you didn’t give the spirit representatives a “treat” to placate the vengeful spirits, you would get mischief in exchange.

Over time, these traditions would become the elements that would consist of Halloween celebrations, albeit taken less seriously and in a more fun way – and not necessarily meant to be scary, either.

the bailiwick academy kids in costumes
You have to admit, kids can look so cute in their costumes!

Okay, now on to the food! In no particular order, here come the homemade food ideas!

Halloween homemade food ideas: Finger foods

When we say finger foods, we don’t mean literal fingers! Finger foods are those literally eaten from out of your own hands. The term is just a fancy term for snacks, but we figured it’s more appropriate for the season.

These snacks can either be sweet or savory – anything to tide the eater over while waiting for the main course.

Halloween snack mix

Halloween homemade food snacks

The usual favorite snacks of people can be popcorn, pretzels, candy corn… or if you want a healthy twist, why not try making your homemade granola? Check out Chef Joey Prats’ Fruit and Nut Granola class – it’s perfect!

Broas

broas Halloween homemade food

Another term for broas is “ladyfingers.” Appropriate for Halloween, wouldn’t you agree?

Just style around them to make them look like “fingers” or give people the idea that they can be a zombie for the night and eat human flesh.

And speaking of broas, you can find out the recipe for making really delicious ones when you enroll in Chef Jimbo’s Pinoy Pasalubong class.

Cheese dip and chips

cheese and dip the bailiwick academy

With cheese dip and chips, you don’t really need to overthink this. Maybe place the cheese dip in an orange or a black bowl, get some dark-colored chips, and poof! It fits the Halloween theme!

And for the best cheese you can ever taste, try our Quattro Formaggi Spread class by Chefs Miguel and Angel Prats!

Halloween homemade food ideas: Main courses

Of course for parties, people won’t necessarily get satisfied with just snacks! You’re going to need to serve them some actual food. Here are a few ideas:

Spaghetti with meatballs

spaghetti and meatballs the bailiwick academy

Make this classic pasta favorite spooky by making spaghetti and eyeballs instead! How do you make eyeballs? Just get cheese and olives and stick them to the meatballs and you’re done!

For one of the best spaghetti and meatballs recipes you can ever taste, enroll in our Pasta Master Class with Chef Joey Prats!

Barbecue baby back ribs

baby back ribs the bailiwick academy

This gets a special mention because Chef Joey Prats called it “You have Died and Gone to Heaven Barbecue Baby Back Ribs.”

Get it? Halloween, died, Heaven…

Pretty appropriate for the occasion, agree? Enroll in this class and get to make the most scrumptious fall-off-the-bone oven-baked barbecue baby back ribs meal made extra special with a delicious, homemade dry rub and a luxuriously thick Kansas City-style barbecue sauce.

Halloween homemade pizza

Halloween homemade food pizza

How do you make pizza spooky? It’s simple! Just decorate your pizza top with as much spookiness as possible. Just like the image, you can make a spider web pizza.

Another possibility is to shape your cheese into ghosts – either way, you get the perfect Halloween pizza.

And if you want a good Halloween homemade food idea, keto pizza is one of them! Learn how to make one in our Keto Italian Bakes class by Ms. Chiqui Dingcong!

Halloween homemade food ideas: Desserts

No meal is complete without dessert! Check out some of these Halloween homemade food ideas for sweet endings!

Floral-themed desserts

flowers the bailiwick academy

Flowers are appropriate for weddings and other special occasions, but you can make them fit into Halloween too. After all, we also bring flowers to graves.

Instead of making colorful floral desserts, why not make monochromatic flowers like black or white and make them toppings on cupcakes or for the actual edible flowers?

For floral cupcakes, check out our Flowers in Full Bloom by Chef Richelle Libunao. And for edible flowers, check out our Art of Edible Flowers class by Chef Marc Kevin Reyes!

Halloween cupcakes with icing

Halloween homemade food cupcakes

Halloween cupcakes are cute, nice, and well, easy to get in theme. Plus, no one doesn’t like cupcakes, right?

But if you have no idea how to make Halloween-themed cupcake icing, then enroll in our Colorflow Royal Icing Toppers by Chef Joey Montanez. You’ll be making your own spooky designs in no time!

Halloween cake

Halloween homemade food cake

Halloween cakes can be decorated in any way and can be in any flavor. But why stop at ordinary when you can make EXTRAORDINARY Halloween cakes?

If you want a cake that’s literally gravity-defying, then enroll in our class with Chef Mayen Orido: Gravity Defying Balancing Toys Cake! Can you imagine making your own cake with floating ghosts, bats, and other Halloween-related elements?

Anyone who sees that cake is guaranteed to be impressed!

Check out more Halloween homemade food inspirations at The Bailiwick Academy!

We hope this blog has helped you get some inspiration for the food you will serve at upcoming Halloween parties. And take note that these ideas are just SOME ideas.

Have you recently purchased one (or many, hehe) of our online classes? You might be wondering where to buy some of the ingredients in a class. Or you might have taken a look at your current baking equipment and realized you need to upgrade. Well, you won’t have to look far if you want to buy – why not check out The Bailiwick Academy shop or TBA shop for short? If you live in Metro Manila or abroad, you can buy from the TBA shop.

Oh yes! Want to stock your baking pantry? Want to buy an oven? Check out our products. We’ve especially stocked it in a way that will complement our online classes.  You might find just what you’re looking for!

How do I buy items from The TBA Shop?

First things first. If you’ve tried signing into the stop with your The Bailiwick Academy account, it won’t work.

Don’t panic, though. The simple reason is that your account with TBA used for buying classes is different from the TBA shop. All you have to do is sign up at the shop and create a new account.

tba shop

So just go through the usual process of adding to cart, and then checking out. For this example, we’re going to add the SPAR SP-800 mixer to our cart.

tba shop

When you press the Check Out button, you will be directed to a screen where you will be asked to enter your details. You will also be asked how you want your item to get to you. You can pick up the item from our place in Tandang Sora in person, or via various courier services like Grab or Lalamove. Just wait for our confirmation before booking any courier or before coming over. It may take us two business days to completely pack your order.

But if you want the item delivered to you, there’s an additional Php150 for Ninjavan services, with a limit of 5 KG.

tba shop

And if you’re in a different country, we will ship your order via DHL. Shipping time will vary, depending on which country you’re ordering from. It’s usually 14 business days, or even more.

Do take note that we ship worldwide except to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Italy, and France. It’s because of each country’s restrictions, so it’s totally out of our control.

The shipping fee will be displayed at checkout, depending on where you are located. For the photo below, we used California as an example destination for a different product (hey, our mixer isn’t 1 KG only, right?).

tba shop

The heavier the item, the higher the shipping cost will be.

Also, depending on the destination country, there will be instances where there will be an additional carrier surcharge for remote locations. You may also incur additional costs such as an Emergency Situation Fee because of the current COVID-19 situation.

Plus, international taxes might be applied, depending on your country’s taxes policy. You’ll also have to think about customs, tariffs, and more.

Consider these carefully before going through with the purchase.

How can I pay for my purchases?

TBA shop lets you pay for your purchased goods with various payment methods, as seen in the screenshot below.

tba shop

So if say your bank is down, and we have a sale ongoing, or you just really need to buy an item, you no longer have to worry about missing out. You have plenty of ways to pay for what you need.

We accept secure payments for both local & international customers via credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal. We also accept payments like Gcash, PayMaya, and direct bank deposits to our BDO and BPI accounts.

By the way, if you’re using PayPal with a credit card/debit card/PayMaya, please take note that there might be additional exchange fees brought about by PayPal.

Is an installment option available?

Yes, we have an installment option available, thanks to BillEase! Scroll to the lowest option when you get to the payment options part.

tba shop

After you finish up at the TBA shop, you will be redirected to the BillEase part of the buying process. It should happen automatically, and it should look like this:

tba shop

You will be able to set your installment term, and how much your downpayment is. Why do you need a downpayment? Well, according to Billease:

If you have more questions, please refer to the BillEase FAQ.

So here’s an example of setting up your payment plan.

tba shop

So if we set the downpayment to Php19,600, the monthly installment is only Php10,742 for three months. If you want a lower monthly installment, you’ll have to pay a bigger downpayment.

Take note that if you want to use BillEase, you’ll need one valid ID.

If you are not redirected to the BillEase website automatically upon finishing the buying process, you’ll still get an email reminding you to complete your purchase.

tba shop

You’ll also get a text message reminding you of the same thing.

tba shop

I guess BillEase just wants to make sure you get your item, huh?

Oh, and if you used a mobile device to purchase from the TBA shop, you’ll have to download the BillEase app. Click on the link of the text message to go to the Google Play or the App Store.

tba shop

Make sure to download and install the app to complete your installment purchase.

Speaking of installment…

Did you know that you can also now pay for enrolling in our online classes via installment? Oh, it’s true!

Let’s say you wanted to buy our latest class, Chef Joey Prats’ Arroz Con Pollo y Chorizo. When you checkout and you get to the payment options, make sure to select the one at the bottom right. See the encircled part in the photo.

Click on that part, and you’ll go to this screen:

Make sure to select the arrow on the menu. Scroll down until you see the BillEase option.

Select that option for installment options. Make sure to tick the box next to the “I agree” part before continuing. The BillEase process is the same as what was outlined in the previous section.

You might also try the Tendopay Installment option, but take note of the warning:

Make sure to apply at Tendopay and have your loan approved first before proceeding.

Do take note that when it comes to classes and installments, you’ll need to buy a certain number of classes or get a certain total. The installment option will not be available if you’re just buying one class.

Aside from the TBA shop, can we buy your products elsewhere?

If you noticed, we only mentioned Metro Manila or outside of the Philippines. What if you live in the province? Well, don’t worry – we also have shops in Lazada and Shopee.

TBA Shop on Lazada

Yes, you can find the TBA shop on Lazada!

If you’re buying other things aside from our products, our Lazada shop is a great option. And you can be sure that Lazada will deliver to your area.

TBA Shop on Shopee

If you prefer Shopee over Lazada, don’t worry. We also have a Shopee branch, if you will.

And just like with any Shopee store, you can use your vouchers or coins and also earn coins.

Again, these two are the optimal choices if you’re in the province and you want to buy our products. Your payment options are limited to the ones allowed in these apps.

Do take note though that Lazada and Shopee also have their own installment options, like LazPayLater and SPayLater, as long as you are qualified to use them.

Any other TBA shops that we should know about?

Okay, so maybe you live in Metro Manila, but you are having a hard time using our website. Or maybe our website is down. Or maybe you just don’t like to use Lazada or Shopee. What do you do?

Well, you can also buy our products from GrabMart and Gcash!

TBA Shop on GrabMart

How do you find the TBA Shop on Grab? Here are the steps.

Go to the Grab App. Look for the “Mart” option.

When you get to GrabMart, enter Bailiwick Shop into the search bar.

The TBA Shop should appear.

Shop normally as in any Grab store – browse through the products, add to cart the ones you want to buy, then check out.

Do take note that the GrabMart option is limited to locations within 6KM from our place in Tandang Sora. If your location is too far, you’ll get a notice like this (because the address we inputted was in Cavite):

TBA Shop on Gcash

What, there’s a TBA shop in Gcash? Oh yes! Here’s how to look for it.

In the Gcash main menu, click on GLife (encircled in red in the example below).

You will arrive at a menu with a search bar.

In the search window, just type Bailiwick, and the TBA shop will come out, complete with our logo.

Click on the shop to start going through our products.

The great thing about the GLife option is that if all your money is in Gcash, you can just use Gcash to pay. You won’t need other payment methods.

Take note that these alternate options mentioned are only available for the Philippine market. Also, our baking equipment like the mixer is currently not available in any of these four shops.

Buy at the TBA shop now!

What are you waiting for? With all these TBA shop options, you have many possible ways of acquiring what you need on your baking and cooking journey.

Head on over to the TBA shop of your choosing today and get started. It’s the Christmas season anyway – treat yourself!

And of course, don’t forget to sign up at The Bailiwick Academy for our online classes!
