Do you love eating cashew nuts? Well, they’re definitely delicious! Roasted cashew? Yum. Salt + cashew? Also yum. Heck, even raw cashews are good! And not only do they taste good, but they’re also very versatile. You can use cashews in pretty much any food dish. But the best way we love cashews is by eating them in a dessert! In case you didn’t know, cashews are important components in many types of desserts. Check out this list of cashew desserts we compiled.

Fair warning though – you might end up craving after reading!

Why are cashews great in desserts, though?

That’s a good question. Well, you see, cashew nuts have a nice, crunchy texture. Plus, they’re soft enough to become cashew cream for desserts.

Got it? Good.

Now, on to our list of desserts with cashew!

1. Caramel Cashew Cheesecake – a cashew dessert classic

cheesecake cashew desserts the bailiwick academy

Raw cashews have a nice, buttery flavor that works well with caramel and cheesecake. Imagine a crust with a delicious filling of cream cheese, brown sugar, cashew, and caramel sauce. That sounds delicious already, right?

Now, add the following ingredients: vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt… Yum! Now that’s a caramel cashew cheesecake!

Best enjoyed with a glass of milk for awesome flavors. And speaking of awesome flavors, chocolate cheesecake sounds pretty good too!

Oh, and you can also do cashew cheesecake bars instead of a whole cake. Much better for storage and for light snacking.

2. Cashew Cookies – desserts made from cashew

cookies cashew the bailiwick academy

Raw cashews taste great, but why not cashews in cookie form? We all know that cookies are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth. We also know that too much sugar can be bad for you. So instead of an actual cookie, try eating a cookie made from cashew nuts. They have amazing health benefits! Plus, they can be more nutritionally balanced.

Eat them as desserts or as snacks. You can also add chocolate chips and end up with cashew chocolate chip cookies!

3. Cashew Butter – included in cashew desserts or not?

nut butters cashew the bailiwick academy

Okay, maybe this isn’t exactly a dessert. But if you’re on the keto diet, this low carb butter can be a dessert! Besides, you can’t exactly put this on bread, right? Unless it’s low carb bread made with cashew flour. Desserts are anything you want to be anyway, so all good.

Cashew butter is great for snacking, too! You can even choose either a smooth, creamy texture or a kind that’s crunchy and chunky.

And just in case you’re wondering, “What can I make with cashew butter?”, you can make plenty. Your cashew butter won’t go to waste as just a spread or as a snack.

4. Baklava with cashews – a unique cashew dessert

baklava the bailiwick academy

Wait, what’s baklava, exactly? Baklava is a layered pastry dessert made of filo pastry, chopped nuts, and syrup or honey. No one knows the origin of baklava, but it’s pretty popular in Iranian, Turkish, and Arab cuisines.
If you’re wondering if it’s possible to get baklava in the Philippines, yes, it is. And also, mostly, baklava has walnuts or pistachios for ingredients, but some use cashews. Cashew baklava is something to be experienced, especially if you like cashews over other nuts.

5. Brownie cashew – a classic dessert enhanced by cashews

brownies cashew snack chocolate the bailiwick academy

Who doesn’t like brownies? We bet no one reading this will say no if anyone offered them this classic treat. Of course, if you want to enhance brownies further, why not add cashews? Cocoa powder plus cashews equal one nutty, texture-y treat. Heat them up if store-bought to get the best flavor. Just make sure they cool completely before you dig in.

6. Cashew brittle – not your usual brittle

brittle peanut brittle cashew the bailiwick academy

If you’re not familiar with brittle, it’s basically pieces of hard sugar candy. Nuts protrude from the surface. They taste better than they sound, believe me.

Who here hasn’t enjoyed peanut brittle from Baguio? Too bad for people in Manila, Baguio is kind of far. Thankfully, there are many makers of brittle. And not just any kind – cashew brittle

It’s a very simple dessert, composed of cashews, butter, sugar, corn syrup, and baking soda. But the taste… well, we’ll just leave for you to taste it. It’s a must-try, for sure.

7. Greek yogurt fruit tart – a fresh cashew treat

greek yogurt the bailiwick academy

This Greek Yogurt dessert is definitely one of a kind! It’s made with Greek Yogurt and various fruits. So where are the cashews?

Well, the base is made with date and cashew, so you end up with a sweet and salty crust. The combination of the crust with the fruits and yogurt make for one refreshing dessert. Some don’t like Greek yogurt, so some shops use vanilla yogurt instead. That sounds good to us, too!

Make your own cashew desserts with The Bailiwick Academy.

Did our list of cashew desserts get your sweet tooth going? Well, you can go out and buy those desserts with cashew nuts. Or even better, enroll in our latest online classes with Chef Joey Prats. They’re both cashew cake recipes we’re sure you’ll love.

Festive Cashew Tart

You know cashew tarts? Those delicious, boat-shaped tarts made with caramel and cashew filling? Well, they’re so good, Chef Joey decided to make his high-end version in a pie/cake form. And of course, it’s made with ingredients that are so delicious: cashew, salted caramel, and a super buttery crust. And not only that: this tart will have a very rich salted caramel buttercream and caramel shards!

Take one bite and you will feel it melt in your mouth. Flavors are enhanced by Chef Joey’s secret ingredient. It’s one masterpiece you wouldn’t want to miss making!

Nelusko

Have you heard of Nelusko? It’s a classic Filipino cake that’s been around since the 1970s. Apparently, no one knows the origin of this dessert, but all that matters is that it’s delicious!

Chef Joey grew up loving this cake made by his mother and amazing chef, Chef Myrna Prats. Sadly, the recipe got lost back in the 1990 earthquake. So Chef Joey recreated the original recipe – with a few tweaks of his own.

Nelusko is another one of the many cashew nut recipes. Sweet and chocolatey. Yum!

It is basically composed of layers of chocolate chiffon cake, dark chocolate buttercream, and cashew nut praline. But true to Chef Joey’s cooking style, you’re going to enjoy a whole new level of taste and texture.

And as a bonus, Chef Joey will share with you his techniques for tempering chocolate using the seeding method. It’s a process you will find invaluable, especially if you plan to become a professional baker.

Enroll in our cashew desserts classes today!

Like with any of our classes, you will get plenty of useful kitchen tips. You’ll also get advice on costing, shelf life, and more. And don’t worry, these cashew dessert recipes will be easy recipes to follow. You’ll be able to make your own cashew dessert in no time.

Brownies. Cookies. Both are delicious. Both are popular with kids and adults. But if you pitted them against each other, brownies vs cookies, who would win? Are brownies or cookies better? Let’s find out.

But wait… are brownies cookies or cakes?

Yup, we knew you’d be asking that. (Or not.) Let’s get this question out of the way. So surprisingly, according to DifferenceBetween.net, brownies are actually bar cookies. Yes, even if they look like mini-cakes. So if you think about it, it’s actually funny that brookies exist. Isn’t that just a repetition or repackaging of the same thing? The same with the question “Can you make brownies into cookies?” But we digress.

brookies the bailiwick academy
Brookies: brownies that are also cookies. Kinda repetitive. But still yummy.

So does this mean this cookies vs brownies debate is useless since brownies are technically cookies? Well, no! Even if a brownie is technically a cookie, there are still many differences when it comes to making each one. Recipes are different, tastes are different, and so on. For example, Chef Joey Prats has unique recipes for both brownies and cookies. Let’s jump into those differences now!

Quick disclaimer too: Before anything else, we’d also like to say that we’re just going to look at the popular flavors of both. We’re just going to talk about chocolate chip cookies and chocolate brownies. Sorry, no butter cookies or other flavors in this discussion. Besides, chocolate flavor is the first thing you associate with them, right?

The case for Team Cookie

cookies chocolate chip the bailiwick academy brownies vs cookies

What’s the snack kids prepare for Santa Claus during Christmas? That’s right, milk and cookies! That alone should push the case for Team Cookie to win, right? LOL. And why wouldn’t Santa want to eat some chewy chocolate cookies after a long night’s work? Just typing this now is getting us thinking about it!

Other people like cookies too because they’re more flexible in terms of texture. A cookie can be crispy and crunchy or soft and chewy, and no one would complain. Do a brownie that’s too soft or too crunchy, and people wouldn’t be happy. And if you’re a milk lover, you’d definitely love dunking cookies in your milk. Oh, and who makes ice cream sandwiches with brownies? No one we know!

The Case for Team Brownie

brownies vs cookies the bailiwick academy

Other people appreciate a good brownie better because of its texture and consistency. And of course, we have yet to see anyone turn down fudgy brownies! When it comes to brownies, you can definitely stuff it with more flavor, since It’s more three-dimensional than a cookie. And since it’s more three-dimensional, it also feels more filling than regular cookies! You will feel more satisfied eating just one brownie compared to one cookie.

Brownies also feel a bit more special. If you think about it, there’s no real brownie that can be bought in grocery stores. Cookies do. You can also imagine that you’re getting a bunch of mini-cakes instead of one big cake. Furthermore, you can store more brownies thanks to their shape. And brownies are great with coffee!

Brownies vs. cookies: which is easier to make?

brownies vs cookies the bailiwick academy

Say you’re going to an event where you have to bring your own food. So it got you thinking: “Should I make cookies or brownies? Are cookies or brownies easier to make?” Well, the general process is the same, right? Just whip up the mixture, put parchment paper on the pan, pour mixture on the pan, place in the oven. Done, right? Well, not exactly.

Considerations for cookies involve shaping them, making sure they’re separate on the pan, and so on. If you don’t separate them properly, you’ll end up with not-so-attractive shapes. Brownies are easier to make because you can cut them up after they cool down. You just have to make sure you’re cutting shapes evenly.  This should answer the question “Are brownies or cookies easier to make?”, right?

Brownies vs cookies: what’s the healthier choice?

healthy snacks the bailiwick academy

When it comes to being healthier, which is better, brownies or cookies? Do brownies or cookies have more calories? Well, you can check out the table made here by Bertha Mae’s Brownie Co. Overall, brownies carry more calories!

So are brownies or cookies healthier? Well, we definitely know the answer to the question “Are brownies healthier than cookies?” is a no. But we also can’t really say that cookies are any healthier than brownies. After all, both contain sugar. And while they’re delicious, overindulging in either is not recommended.

Which will survive transportation better?

transportation the bailiwick academy
Which product is more likely to stay intact upon delivery? That’s something to consider!

When it comes to brownies vs chocolate chip cookies, let’s also consider what’s easier to transport. Say you have no choice and you have to have your goods transported via motorcycle. It’s not the best choice, because a lot of riders aren’t careful. You have to think about what will happen to either your cookies or brownies while in transit. If they’re in boxes, brownies might have a better chance of surviving intact. With cookies though, if they’re the soft, chewy kind, you might end up with chocolate chips scattered all over. Worse, your cookies might be halved already. Cookies might survive better in other types of packaging or being transported in cars. Brownies are generally tougher. They might be a better choice if you need to bring your baked goods anywhere.

Conclusion

So, brownies vs. cookies. Which one wins? Well, at the end of the day, there’s no real answer to what’s better, brownies or cookies. We can’t even answer the question, “Are brownies or cookies more popular?” We’re definitely leaning toward one of them, but we won’t say which one! Both are definitely delicious and delightful to eat.

Thankfully, here at The Bailiwick Academy, we have plenty of recipes for both brownies and cookies. There’s no need to choose! Sign up for free and get started on your first recipe now.

P.S. If you STILL can’t decide on what to make first, try our free brownies class by Chef Jimbo Panadero!

  1. From the home screen, go to Settings then look for Safari.

What’s a cache, anyway?

clearing cache the bailiwick academy

To put it simply, the cache on any browser is a “secret place” that contains stuff from websites you visit. According to BigCommerce.com, the browser takes pieces of the page and stores them on your computer’s hard drive. Examples of these are pictures, HTML codes, and so on. The process, called “caching,” is necessary to load images, text, videos, and websites faster. It can get bloated though, which we will talk about later.

Well, what are cookies?

clearing cache and cookies the bailiwick academy
Sorry, not these cookies.

Sorry, we’re not referring to cookies like the cookies of Chef Joey Prats. All About Cookies explains cookies as small text files or given ID tags that are stored on your computer. Cookies generate when you visit a site that uses cookies to track your activity on that website. The site puts it on your device so the website remembers you when you visit again and help you resume what you’re doing. They will also remember your login details on sites.

Why do we need to clear cache and cookies?

If cache and cookies work together to make your website browsing a faster and easier experience, why clear them? Well, sometimes, the information on websites changes, so the saved information may no longer apply to the website. Therefore, your browser might be loading older versions which will slow the website down. The recommendation is to clear browser caches and cookies every few weeks so that your browser will load websites faster.

Of course, the disadvantage is that all your saved items like usernames and passwords will be deleted. Make sure you have those stored or written somewhere!

Now that you know about clearing cache and cookies, you’ll have an easier time watching The Bailiwick Academy videos! If you run into any problems, just refer to this blog post. And if all else fails, try using a different browser or device.

Enjoy your classes!

Are you a cookie lover? Do you want to impress your family and friends with your incredible repertoire of cookies? Do you want to learn how to make the Best Ever Cookies? Turn your love for cookies into a business? Well, you have come to the right place!  The Bailiwick Academy‘s Best Ever Cookies class will show you how!

Opening the door upon arriving home from school to the heavenly aroma of freshly baked cookies leaves an indelible print in one’s mind.

Jean Pare

If cookies are emotions, they would be joy and happiness.  Nothing is as comforting and satisfying as a plateful of  cookies and a glass of milk.  Cookies are the epitome of happy childhood memories. This was the time when things were simpler and stress-free. The best ever time for us.

Maybe this is why cookies have always been a special treat for kids and adults alike.  They elicit a variety of special feelings. Safety, comfort familiarity and love. Each bite envelopes you in a tight warm hug.

And just like the furry big-eyed blue guy, who can resist a chewy cookie oozing with melted chocolate chips? No one, I say. Yup! There is absolutely no one in this world who can resist a cookie!

But did you ever wonder how cookies came to be?

Cookie Origin

Cookies date back as early as the 7th century AD in Persia ( known more popularly as Iran in the present time).

They were not called cookies yet.

While cakes were already enjoyed by most, cookies were originally not the treats they are today.

They were considered as test cakes. A small amount of cake batter was baked to test the temperature of the oven. This is when oven thermometers were non-existent.

This is to ensure that only a small amount of the cake was ruined in case the temperature was not right.

The word cookie was derived from the Dutch’s koekje. They have different names all over the world.

In England and Australia they are called biscuits

They are called galletas in Spain while Germans call them keks.

In Italy, they are known as amaretti or biscotti among others.

But no matter how we call this little treat, cookies have become a permanent part of our lives. A permanent fixture to bring us delight and enjoyment. We buy them in packs  from the groceries, fresh from bakeries and cookie hubs or we make them from scratch at home.

It’s A Cookie Business

Cookies are undoubtedly loved by so many.

Hence, cookie businesses have sprouted everywhere. From big brands to home baked cookies, almost everyone has joined the cookie bandwagon.

As a starting home baker, you may hesitate to venture in a business. Or specifically a cookie business.  It is perfectly understandable.  Who would want to go against the big guys, right? Or you might think that the market is saturated already.

Yet, with the growing demand for local and small-scale businesses, this is the best time to start.  The pandemic has levelled the field and most home based businesses have seen success.

Cookies are a good product to sell.  They are small, handy and delicious.  Almost everyone loves them. Cookies are easily packaged and not as delicate as a cake. They have a longer shelf life and  there are more varieties to choose from too.

Crispy or chewy? Chocolate or fruit filled? Take your pick.

Also, Christmas is just around the corner. And you know what that means!

Now, if others can do it, why can’t you?

Free Tutorials vs Online Classes

Okay, I’m convinced and I’ll do it you say. I’ll sell cookies! I can find a hundred recipes on social media. No problem.

Wait!

Before you press that search button.  Let me point out a few things.

Sure, you will get a gazillion recipes on You Tube, Pinterest and blogs.

But the question is, are they guaranteed to be good?

In most cases, you will end up experimenting a lot. You’ll wonder why your cookies didn’t end up looking like the ones in the tutorial.  You’ll be doing a lot of tweaks and improvements on these recipes which means a lot of ingredients will be wasted.  Not to mention your time and effort too.

You’ll easily get frustrated and eventually you might just quit. Worse, you’ll  think that you’re not good enough and this might dampen your self-esteem.  We wouldn’t like that to happen, would we? Your business will have already ended before  it  started.

Nope, we won’t like it all!

Thus, go for something that will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to forge on. A class that will bring you several steps closer to your goal.

This is why it is better to enrol in an online class.  Specifically, the Best Ever Cookies Class here at The Bailiwick Academy!

First, this class is taught by no other than the ever popular and well-loved Chef Joey Prats.

He has been in the baking industry for almost thirty years! Thus, with that kind of experience under his belt, he is the perfect instructor to teach the intricacies of baking the best ever cookies!  You are surely in excellent hands.

Best Ever Cookies Class

You’re probably think of something sweet, round, brown and full of chocolate chips upon the mention of the word cookie, am I right?

Well yes! The chocolate chip cookie is the most famous cookie ever.  And you will learn the best ever version of this cookie in this class! It’s going to be a guaranteed best seller!

For this recipe alone, this class is so worth it already.

However, The Bailiwick Academy went  the extra mile and gave us nine more cookie recipes! For a total of  ten mouthwatering and delicious cookie treats in one class!

No free tutorial or even other online classes can top that! Let me show you a sneak peak of the class:

Cookies Galore

Let us start our cookie journey with the Russian Tea Cakes.

These are shortbread-like cookies studded with walnuts and covered in snowy confectioner’s sugar.  As the name suggests, it is perfect for afternoon tea.  Or coffee.

Second on the list is the Raisin Shortbread Cookies.  It is peppered with soft, dark chewy raisins on a buttery shortbread crust that is crispy but melt-in-your mouth at the same time.

Next on the cookie list is the Super Nutty Peanut Butter Cookies.  Sweet, rich and full of creamy peanut butter flavor. This is a peanut butter lover’s cookie dream come true!

And who doesn’t love a good Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?  As its name implies it is a chewy and delicious concoction of oatmeal, raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon!  Your kitchen is going to smell oh-so heavenly with these in the oven.

Not to be outdone are the Raspberry Oatmeal Bars. They are  reminiscent of the Fig Newtons which are soft pastry-like cookies  filled with fig jam.  This is the raspberry version. Not only are these yummy, they are so pretty as well. They will be a great addition to your cookie repertoire!

There’s More

You will also learn the secrets of how to make a to-die-for version of Food for the Gods.  This is my personal favorite! Biting into its super chewy center will probably be the most sinful bite you will ever take.  A pure indulgence made up of really good pure butter, dates and walnuts. There is absolutely nothing  ordinary with this type of sweet pastry. Truly a divine delicacy made for the gods!

Seventh on the list are the Danish Butter Cookies. Who is  familiar with the iconic blue tin can filled with golden swirls of buttery goodness? My family used to have these on our dining table all the time. And yours as well I’m sure. Well, Chef Joey’s version is ten times better than the butter cookies we grew up with. Subtly sweet and full of buttery goodness!

Next are the oh-so-popular Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies! These are an upgraded version of the chocolate chip cookies. Milk chocolate chunks are used instead of the tinier chocolate chips .  Just imagine biting into chunks of melty milk chocolate in a chewy crust!

You will not be able to control yourself. One is definitely not enough. Trust me on this. Been there. Done that. This is just so addicting!

And Still More Cookies!

Succeeding the  Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies are the equally popular Chocolate Crinkles.  There are so many versions of this out in the market. But I can say that this one is simply the best one. Chewy and full of chocolate goodness, this is surely a best seller!

The last but certainly not the least are the Lemon Bars. You will not be able to resist this heavenly lemony treat. To resist this treat is a sin! Lemon bars are made of extra thick, smooth, tart and creamy lemon curd filling that sits on a buttery shortbread crust and sprinkled generously with powdery white confectioner’s sugar. Sounds divine? Oh yes! You bet it is!

My mouth is watering just by describing all the goodies you will learn from this class. Can’t wait to for you to bake all of these yummy cookies!

Let’s Pack ‘Em Cookies

After learning to bake the cookies, we move on to the next important factor. Packaging.

Packaging is often treated as an after thought. In today’s fiercely competitive market, we can’t just have good products to sell. We need to have excellent packaging as well.

Packaging is an important component when it comes to selling the cookies.  At its most basic, it serves to  protect the product inside.

It now has evolved to more than just protection.  It is the first layer of attraction that will draw the consumer to your product.  We eat with our eyes, that’s right.  But we also buy with our eyes first!  Indeed, packaging has come a long way from just being a container to put your goods in.

There are so many types of packaging in the market. Different kinds , shapes and sizes of boxes, jars and pouches that it can get overwhelming especially for a newbie.

Packaging suggestions are included in this class.  This would definitely help you to create  eye-catching and unique packages for your delicious cookies.
